It was with humble beginning of a few interested and dedicated Christians to organize a place for worship. The first place of worship was held under a Bush Arbor located in Southwest Montgomery County on Highway 331 near Teague Road (Hyundai Blvd) on the property of Mr. Randolph (Caucasian) near his family home. Because of the very loud singing voices, clapping of hands, hollowing praises, preaching God’s Word disturbed his family life, in 1859, he donated an acre of land to the congregation for a church and he requested that the church’s name become Big Roxanna Baptist Church. As God inspired the leaders of the congregation, the church was used as a place of worship, a meeting hall, and a school. A minister was called to lead the congregation and Deacons were ordained. There are no recollections of records kept, before 1859 to the early 1920’s. The Ministers were: Rev. Samson Smart, Rev. Joe Hasley, Rev. John Hill, Rev. Hollis, Rev. Charlie Davis, and Rev. Hayes. Deacons were Nero Sharp, Wilson Williams, and Spencer Hunter.

Today, Big Roxanna Baptist church is a progressive church on the move for the kingdom of God. The church has established several vibrant ministries to serve its congregation and community. The congregation has taken own a willingness to serve as continues its pursuit of excellence be for God.
